Žiga Koritnik

Cloud Arrangers

“Žiga is one of the best photographers on the planet.”
– Anthony Braxton

“The compassionate, candid and very humane look of Žiga remind us all that we part of a larger community, a restless community that often acts as an extended family.”
– Eyal Hareuveni

Cloud Arrangers is a monumental photographic journey through more than three decades of global music culture, captured by one of Europe’s most distinctive documentary eyes: Slovenian photographer Žiga Koritnik has followed musicians since 1986, creating images that reveal not only the intensity of live performance but also the humanity, fragility, and aura of the artists themselves.

Internationally acclaimed for his unmistakable visual language, Koritnik has held over sixty solo exhibitions worldwide and collaborated with numerous festivals. His analogue and digital photographs—characterised by sharp intuition, respect for the scene, and an improviser’s sense of timing—have made him a defining chronicler of contemporary music. As Francesco Martinelli writes for NYC Jazz Records:

„Koritnik represents for Jazz in Europe of the ’90s into today what Roberto Masotti and Gérard Rouy had been in the ’70s–’80s: the eye that captured the spirit of an era.”

Cloud Arrangers presents 272 black-and-white photographs taken across 45 festivals, in 14 countries on four continents. Iconic portraits and electrifying live moments feature artists such as Anthony Braxton, Diane Reeves, Miles Davis, Peter Brötzmann, Tom Waits, and many more.

The book includes texts by John Kelman, Mats Gustafsson, Ken Vandermark and Joëlle Léandre, with Joe McPhee poignantly describing Koritnik as “a ‘Muse-ician,’ an improviser, a chronicler of life in real time.”
