Dieses inspirierende Buch mit Texten in deutscher und englischer Sprache reflektiert ästhetische, kulturelle und performative Dimensionen zeitgenössischer (Kunst-)Musik. Es eröffnet und fordert neue Perspektiven einer kulturwissenschaftlich orientierten Musikwissenschaft und künstlerischer Forschung. Texte der letzten 15 Jahre gliedern sich in zwei Hauptkapitel: Kulturelle Praxis – u.a. mit Analysen zu großen Festivals wie Warschauer Herbst, Festival d’Automne à Paris und Wien Modern, zur Bedeutung von Live-Aufführungen und zur visuellen Musikforschung; und Aktuelle musikalische Partituren, u.a. mit performativen Analysen wegweisender Kompositionen von John Cage, Morton Feldman, Georg Friedrich Haas, Giorgio Netti und Marco Stroppa.
Simone Heilgendorff: Habilitierte Musikwissenschaftlerin, Bratschistin und Musik-Kuratorin. Seit 1993 universitäre Lehrtätigkeiten, aktuell u.a. an der UdK Berlin und an der Univ. Salzburg. 2013–2016 internationales FWF-Forschungsprojekt „New Music Festivals as Agorai“ (Univ. Salzburg). Bratschistin des Kairos Quartetts (Berlin).
This inspiring book, with texts in German and English, reflects on the aesthetic, cultural and performative dimensions of contemporary (art) music. It opens up and challenges new perspectives in musicological and artistic research with a cultural studies orientation. Texts from the last 15 years are divided into two main chapters: Cultural Practice – including analyses of major festivals such as Warsaw Autumn, Festival d’Automne à Paris and Wien Modern, the importance of live performance and visual music research; and Current Musical Scores – including performative analyses of seminal compositions by John Cage, Morton Feldman, Georg Friedrich Haas, Giorgio Netti and Marco Stroppa.
Simone Heilgendorff: Habilitated musicologist, violist and music curator. University teacher since 1993, currently at the UdK in Berlin (D) and at the University of Salzburg (Austria). 2013–2016 head of the international FWF research project „New Music Festivals as Agorai” (Univ. of Salzburg). Violist of the Berlin based Kairos Quartet.
