Luigi Gaggero

A Natural Gesture

Thoughts on Musical Praxis and Conducting

German edition

"A natural gesture is a philosophy of sound, for musicians, for conductors, and figuratively for anyone who immerses themselves deeply in what inspires them. It is a beautiful exploration of a path. Reading this book makes me want to go back to the scores, the rehearsal room and the podium to serve the music on an ever deeper level. And also to realize that one must not only bury oneself in music, but nourish one's authentic and healthy being through philosophy, self-realization and rhetoric in order to reach the silence that precedes sound." (From the foreword by Barbara Hannigan)

Luigi Gaggero, born in Genoa, has graced the stages of Europe's most prestigious concert halls. He is currently chief conductor and artistic director of the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra as well as musical director and co-founder of the Ukho Ensemble Kyiv, which has recorded highly acclaimed CDs of contemporary repertoire.
