Conductor Peter Hirsch first collaborated with Luigi Nono in 1985, on the occasion of the world premiere of "Il nuovo Prometeo," for which he shared conducting duties with Claudio Abbado. This was followed by decades of engagement with Nono's work, including the world premieres of "Risonanze erranti" in 1986 and the posthumous "Fucik" fragment in 2006. The present texts examine the transformations and continuities of a 'sound of resistenza' from the early 1950s, which consciously addresses the question of 'What next?' after the end of fascism, to the 'suono mobile' of his late work.
