Dialoghi. Annäherungen an Giacinto Scelsi

It is a rare opportunity to bring together composers, performers, and concert organizers from around the world to focus on the reception of one of the most important composers of the 20th century, to discuss this in detail through conversations, and to document the multifaceted creative processes involved in engaging with an extraordinary musical legacy and its influence on significant contemporary musicians.
Beat Furrer, Rupert Huber, and Markus Hinterhäuser are among the most important interpreters of Scelsi’s work and remain committed to his oeuvre to this day. Their dedication, the history of its reception, as well as insights into their own work, are impressively traced.
Georg Friedrich Haas’s compositional style was significantly influenced by Scelsi’s work, just as he incorporates his music-theoretical explorations of it into his teaching with students at international music universities to deepen their knowledge and inspire them.
In conversation, composer and improvisational artist Elisabeth Harnik expands the boundaries between “composition” and “improvisation,” thereby encouraging a fundamental rethinking of musical concepts!
Gerd Kühr, Klaus Lang, Clemens Gadenstätter, and Uli Fussenegger approach Scelsi’s aesthetics and his perception of sound as the “first movement of the immovable” from a narrative perspective, thereby opening up new avenues for all interested parties to understand, perceive, and receive Giacinto Scelsi’s sound works in the 21st century.
