„Es sind noch Lieder zu singen jenseits der Menschen“

Studien zur musikalischen Lyrik Aribert Reimanns

Aribert Reimann (*1936), whose career took place at some distance from the avant-garde currents of New Music, has created an extensive oeuvre of lyrical-musical works over the decades, which is characterized by a decidedly coherent musical language. This book is dedicated to this body of work and examines the complex relationship between lyric poetry and music in Reimann's work in numerous individual case studies. For the first time, the special role of lyric poetry as an impulse-giving and form-shaping instance is worked out and poetological questions are also taken into consideration. The descriptions published here for the first time are intended as a contribution to the current discussion on the genre concept of musical poetry.
