Géza Anda. Pianist

Together with Annie Fischer, György Cziffra and György Sebök, the Hungarian-Swiss pianist Géza Anda (1921-1976) is one of the most important pianists of the 20th century to emerge from the great tradition of the Hungarian school. Anda's interpretations of classical-romantic and modern piano music, in particular Mozart's and Bartók's piano concertos, have long enjoyed reference status; as a teacher, he has had a lasting influence on subsequent generations of pianists. The Concours Géza Anda, founded in Zurich in 1979, successfully continues Anda's artistic and pedagogical ideals with worldwide appeal. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Géza Anda's birth, this volume, published by the Géza Anda Foundation Zurich, presents a panorama of his life, work and legacy based on numerous documents, some of which have been published for the first time.
