Mauricio Kagel bei den Internationalen Ferienkursen für neue Musik in Darmstadt

Mauricio Kagel was undoubtedly one of the most important and interesting composers of the second half of the twentieth century. As this documentation shows, he also exerted a decisive influence on the direction of the Darmstadt International Summer Course for New Music. The volume summarizes Kagel's most important contributions to this institution, which was decisive for the development of new music: In addition to the entire correspondence between Kagel and the Darmstadt Summer Courses and several of his lectures, which are presented to the public here for the first time, the volume also includes reprints of some of Kagel's early writings. The materials are explained in a detailed introduction and the relationship between the composer and the so-called "Darmstadt School" is discussed on this basis. Overall, the documents provide new insights into the life and work of one of the most fascinating composers of the recent past as well as into one of the most important institutions of new music.
