Kirsten Reese

Kirsten Reese is a sound artist, composer and performer and can look back on a heterogeneous and unconventional oeuvre spanning a good fifteen years of creative work. Unconventional not because it is provocative, but because it cannot be pigeonholed and instead always dares to pursue new challenges and ways of following a trail, an idea or "found footage" on winding paths through memories, the jungle of technology construction markets, encounters with places and people to the end and finally realizing them with great precision and sensitivity for the complex conditions of the respective performance or presentation situation.

The catalog offers an exhibition of works that, through the sensitive selection of visual testimonies and acoustic excerpts, enables the viewer to search for traces along precisely these paths and an intimate encounter with their results. In the individual visual testimonies: old slides from the 1970s, sketches and schedules, photos of places and people, video stills, old postcards, patience games and the audio excerpts on the accompanying CD: Live concert recordings or arranged and edited sounds of acoustic "found footage" such as private music cassettes, street noises, sports halls, media, patience games, buzzing objects combined with instrumental sounds, electronic sounds or live electronics and interactivity, a sensual image of processes and results unfolds.
