Mythos Cage

John Cage, a myth of 20th century music? Having arrived at the end of the 20th century, it now seems possible to adopt an objective relationship with Cage: critically, with distance, a clear view and reflection on the foundations of Cage's building of world view and artistic activity. In this way, movement can be brought into the reception of Cage, which has long since solidified into a myth of pseudo-religious dimensions. The volume "Mythos Cage" attempts both examination and correction: by international authors who have committed themselves to interdisciplinary approaches. The real significance of Cage is not undisputed among the authors: the volume "Mythos Cage" can therefore also be read as a controversy.
