Vermittlung Freier Improvisation

Ein Kompendium

Free improvisation – what a promise! Making music without any score, prior agreement, or set of rules, music in the here and now, where everyone involved can influence and change the performance at any moment. Can this be taught and communicated in a course to those who are perhaps new to it? How can music students from all disciplines benefit equally from it? At the Lucerne School of Music, free improvisation has been a natural part of the curriculum for decades. All students are involved in it at some point. Based on these experiences and considerations, the three authors have written the first textbook on the subject. This compendium, which contains fundamental considerations as well as numerous practical instructions and exercises, may now also serve others in their teaching.
