Peter Ruzicka. Eine Werkmonografie

ATTRIBUTION – this book marks the second monograph on the composer Peter Ruzicka. The first—RETROSPECTIVE—was published twelve years ago. Much has changed since then—politically, socially, culturally, but also in the personal life of an artist like Peter Ruzicka, who never thought, acted, or wrote within narrow confines. Between 2013 and 2022, in an enormous creative surge, a body of compositions emerged that accounts for a good fifth of Ruzicka’s entire oeuvre, with BENJAMIN, his third opera, at its center. The contours of a late work are taking shape; looking back on his own creative output and on history, the composer has tapped into a new expressiveness. More can be said about his musical language and the contexts of its development than could be said twelve years ago. Thus, the first version of the monograph not only needed to be significantly expanded but also re-evaluated and re-weighted from a new perspective. The new title reflects this.
