Daily Sounds All Around

Spuren akustischer Lebenswelten / traces of acoustic worlds

The auditory, sensory experience of noises, sounds, and noise often happens unconsciously in everyday life, yet they shape our perception of the surrounding world in almost every situation. The exhibition DAILY SOUNDS ALL AROUND explores these everyday sounds and noises beyond their familiar environments. They immediately penetrate the ear and draw attention to phenomena in our everyday lives that are drowned out by the constant noise of everyday life. Peter Cusack, William Engelen, Hanna Hartman, Freya Hattenberger, Rene Hüls, Ketonge, Vera Lossau, Peter C. Simon, Juergen Staack, Jens Schmidt, and Junya Oikawa embark on an artistic quest to find forms of expression for acoustic living environments. Their search for clues extends from Siberia to Vietnam to the centers of large urban cities. Almost all of the works are based on field recordings made on site and refer to actions, encounters, or circumstances in the respective environment. The artists track down everyday sounds, decontextualize them, and create sensory spaces of experience. The noises and sounds expand into installations, are channeled into sculptural objects, or immaterially permeate the body while viewing
Raum und Bewegung (Space and Movement).
