Sergej Prokowjews Filmmusik zu Sergej Eisensteins Alexander Newski

The reconstruction of Sergei Prokofiev's score to Sergei Eisenstein's Alexander Nevsky (1938) and the premiere of the original film music in Berlin and Moscow have made it possible to rewrite an interesting chapter in Sergei Prokofiev's biography: If musicological research concerning this film has always initially thought of the Alexander Nevsky Cantata op. 78, which was criticized as too pathetic, it is now possible for the first time to examine the original score in detail.
The author points out the background to this work, sheds light on the composer's original intentions and revises some of the findings of the current debate on Sergei Prokofiev.
