For more than four decades, Johannes pp. Sistermann has been creating sound sculptures in which sound, space, material, and movement combine to form a unique artistic experience. His site-specific works are created in museums, industrial halls, churches, landscapes, and public spaces. Walls, glass, wood, and metal become resonating bodies; architecture begins to vibrate; and every step alters what is heard.

This lavishly produced, bilingual illustrated book brings together works spanning four decades and brings to light an art form that normally eludes permanent preservation. Large-format photographs document installations from around the world, complemented by texts by the artist as well as essays that situate his work at the intersection of sound art, architecture, and the visual arts.
